A Sonnet For My Granny

Created by Anya 4 months ago
The light in your eyes made the stars look dim,
Your laugh like spring air as the flowers first bloom,
A smile full of joy that could spread limb to limb,
And cheeks blushing pinker than any rosey room.

From your Tiffany Christmas earrings and your homemade jam,
To the wonders of your poetry and fantastic snowmen,
The memories I hold dear that make me who I am,
As I long to hear your sweet Scottish voice once again.

You taught me so much more than just being Santa’s helper,
You showed me love, laughter, kindness and the beauty all around.
Being in your heart was like a warm, welcome shelter,
As a Granny so very special will always be renowned.

Though you may be in a better place spreading love amongst the stars,
You’ll remain in all our hearts forever thankful you were ours.
